Abstract

The Albert J. Ross Photographs include negatives, copies of original negative envelopes, and, for a very limited number of images, prints depicting scenes of everyday life in Arizona, Texas, Ohio, and Tennessee. A small number of postcards are included as well. These materials date from 1907 to 1966 with the bulk of images falling in the range of 1907 to around 1930.

Abstract

This collection houses nineteen photographs showing Tempe, Arizona in the early 1900s. Among the subjects depicted are Arizona State University's Old Main, the Hayden Flour Mill, the Santa Fe railroad bridge, Mill Avenue, agricultural enterprises (including dates, oranges, wheat, and ostriches), business enterprises (including the Casa Loma Hotel and the Pacific Creamery), Mill Avenue, and the Haigler family.
