This collection houses research regarding Carl Hayden and the Central Arizona Project and materials showing August's career as an historian. This collection has not been processed in full and can be viewed only by appointment. Contact Archives and Special Collections for more information.

The Otis J. Baughn Papers consist primarily of one box of manuscript material dating from 1916 to 1948. Also included is a brief biography of Baughn written by his son in 1983. The collection is arranged in five series.

The Central Arizona Project Association Records range from 1922 to 1974 and include correspondence, speeches, articles, reports, subject files, and scrapbooks. The bulk of the material ranges from 1946 to 1974 and documents the promotional efforts of the Association toward establishing the Central Arizona Project.

The Concerned Citizens Against Rio Salado Records contain materials both for and against the Rio Salado Project. The collection ranges from 1976 to 1987, with the bulk of the records covering the period between 1983 and 1987.

The Daniel E. Garvey Collection consists primarily of correspondence, newsclippings, certificates, memorabilia, and printed matter documenting Garvey's political career. Although the material ranges from 1917 to 1974, the bulk of the collection concerns Garvey's tenure in municipal and state government from 1938 to 1950.

The Carl T. Hayden Papers consist of personal and political correspondence, newsclippings, speeches, legislation, congressional and senatorial files, research notes, printed matter and memorabilia dating from 1851 to 1979. The bulk of the collection documents Hayden's activities as an United States Senator from Arizona from 1940 to 1968.

The Carl T. Hayden Photograph collection houses 2,431 photographs documenting Carl T. Hayden and the extended Hayden family.

The Hayden Family Papers consist of the personal, political, and business correspondence of Charles Trumbull Hayden and his wife, children, and relatives. Although the letters range from 1844 to 1912, the majority of the collection is comprised of personal family correspondence dating from 1875 to 1903.

The George W. P. Hunt collection contains correspondence, diaries, scrapbooks, notebooks, biographical and genealogical material, and printed matter. Although the collection ranges from 1709 to 1955, the bulk of the material concerns Hunt's political activities and personal life from 1885 to 1932.
