Biographical Note

Madge Beatrice Keyfauver was born to Harry Reel and Jennie Muriel (Elder) Keyfauver in 1909 and moved from Illinois to Arizona in 1916 with her parents. In 1930 she married Carroll Leister Rushton (1905-1960)and the couple moved into the new home built for them by Madge's father, an independent carpenter. This house is still standing at 1104 E. Weldon near Idlywilde Park in Central Phoenix. The Rushtons lived in this house for nearly nineteen years and raised two children, Carollyn Jeanette (1933-) and Ronald. In December 1949 the family moved to a new home at 1708 Devonshire Road, also in Phoenix. The Rushtons lived in this house until Carroll's death, at which time Madge sold the property. She and her two children moved into the house that had been left to her by her mother. At the time of her husband's death Madge went to work for the State of Arizona; first for the State Auditor, and then for the Finance Department. She retired in 1975 and died in Phoenix in 1998.
