Appointments in the Wurzburger Reading Room at Hayden Library (rm. 138) on the Tempe campus are available Tuesday through Thursday, from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Biographical Note

Bernard Patrick Jack Lynch was born in Douglas, Kansas on March 24, 1895. He began his newspaper career as circulation manager for the Chronicle News of Trinidad, Colorado. In November of 1922, the Arizona Republic hired him as a cub reporter. He was appointed to managing editor in 1934 and resigned in 1947 to become administrative and budget director to Governor Ernest McFarland. In 1959, Lynch became the Arizona Highway Department's public relations director. He also served as President of the Arizona Press Club and as Director of the American Society of Newspaper Editors.

Jack Lynch was married twice: once to Grace Ellis in 1919 and once to Frances Bertley (Linville) Moore in 1928. He had two daughters by his first wife, Bernadine M. and Evelyn. Lynch died in Arizona in September of 1968.
