Williams, Jack, 1909-1998

This collection constitutes the photo morgue of the Tempe Daily News. The images document Tempe's social and economic development, including churches, businesses, street scenes, buildings, and portraits of community leaders. All photographs were taken by staff photographers; no images from news bureaus are included.

This collection focuses on two distinct periods in Burch's career: his chairmanship of the Republican National Committee (1964-1965) during the 1964 presidential campaign and its immediate aftermath and his chairmanship of the U. S. Federal Communications Commission (1969-1973). It is arranged in three series: Series I: Republican National Committee; Series II: 1964 Presidential Campaign; and Series III: Federal Communications Commission.

The Central Arizona Project Association Records range from 1922 to 1974 and include correspondence, speeches, articles, reports, subject files, and scrapbooks. The bulk of the material ranges from 1946 to 1974 and documents the promotional efforts of the Association toward establishing the Central Arizona Project.

The majority of the 59 images in this collection are biographical photographs of Newcomer. Also included are some samples of Newcomer's work.
