The Jeffrey Cook Papers consist of materials documenting the life and career of this Arizona architect and educator. The collection is divided into five major subgroups pertaining to Professor Cook's life, architectural practice, consulting work, publishing activities, professional service and interests, and teaching. Included within the five subgroups are a total of 27 series. Many of these series contain sub-series. Subgroup 1: Professional Files includes four series – Architectural Practice, Consulting Projects, Publications/Presentations, and Organizations. Each series contains multiple sub-series that reflect Professor Cook's extensive professional involvement in different aspects of his field for more than forty years.

Subgroup 2: Higher Education consists of series related to Cook's teaching career at institutions of higher learning. Specifically, the series include Arizona State University and Other. The latter includes the sub-series Dalhousie University and Pratt Institute. Included in the extensive Arizona State materials are the sub-series: Departmental Reports, John Yellott Files, Sabbaticals, Class Materials, Student Papers, Annual Reports/Self-Evaluations, Cook Employment Applications, and Other.

Subgroup 3: Personal Files contains series such as Biographical Materials, Organizational Service, Correspondence, and Other Papers. Jeffrey Cook's biographical items include numerous vitas compile at different stages of his life, photo files, and materials pertaining to his education at University of Manitoba and Pratt Institute. The series Organizational Service is comprised of meeting minutes, financial info, and correspondence from various organizations with whom Cook was affiliated. The Correspondence series contains letters exchanged between Professor Cook and family and friends. The Other Papers series includes, among other items, several files of recipes.

Subgroup 4: Paolo Soleri Subgroup includes the following series: Conferences, Correspondence, Reports/Papers, Printed Matter, Lectures/Presentations, Exhibits, Clippings, Photographs, Interviews, Notes, Book Files, and Other. These materials pertain to activities of Jeffrey Cook's longtime friend and colleague, visionary architect Paolo Soleri and the relationship between the two men.

Subgroup 5: Other Papers is a compilation of diverse series such as Subject Files, Mixed Media, Victor Olgyay Files, Oversize Plans/Drawings, Solar Research Files, and Rachel Fletcher Files. The extensive Subject Files consist of topical reference files pertaining to people, events, places, etc. Mixed Media includes computer floppy disks, CDs, DVDs, etc. These different formats contain Cook papers and presentations, conference proceedings, building images, architectural models images, personal photographs, and other yet to be identified contents. Victor Olgyay Files contain materials pertaining to the Hungarian born bio-climatic design expert. Particularly noteworthy is Cook correspondence about the establishment of the Olgyay Archive at Arizona State University. Oversize Materials contain plans, drawings, posters, etc. Solar Research Files include technical reference materials in the area of solar energy.

Appointments in the Design and the Arts Special Collections Reading Room at the Design and the Arts Library on the Tempe campus are available Monday to Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
