Preliminary Inventory of the American Indian Movement of Arizona Records
This collection houses correspondence, photographs, newspaper clippings, video tapes, and other materials documenting the American Indian Movement in Arizona, the controversy surrounding Leonard Peltier, legal issues involving Native Americans in Arizona, and Vernon and Samantha Foster's pottery. The Wenona Benally Baldenegro Papers consists of publications, photographs, campaign flyers, and campaign buttons. The collection dates between 2011 and 2012, when Wenona Benally Baldenegro sought election to the U.S. House to represent the 1st Congressional District of Arizona.
Elizabeth Brandt Collection
The Elizabeth Brandt Collection mainly contains research materials collected by Brandt to conduct a study on the conditions surrounding Navajo high student dropouts from 1985 to 1986. In addition, there are articles and notes regarding American Indian languages and elementary education curriculum materials regarding American Indian culture.
Elizabeth Brandt Mount Graham Papers
This material includes legal documents, correspondence, newspaper articles, photographs, Brandt’s writing, and research. The bulk of the material dates from 1990 to 2000 and consists of Brandt’s efforts to halt the construction of telescopes on Mount Graham, a scared Apache site.
Charles Newton Collection
The Charles Newton Collection consists of 35 handwritten letters that Newton wrote to his wife and five other individuals from the Western Navajo Training School at Algert, Arizona. The bulk of the letters date from 1902 and 1903.
