Historical Note

Centro Adelante Campesino was established as a 501 (c)(3) non-profit tax-exempt corporation in 1978. It was born out of the farmworker struggle in Maricopa County, Arizona. The Centro, based in El Mirage, promoted human rights and social justice by providing special services, including a dental and health clinic, a food and clothing bank, and a daycare program. They also provided educational programs like English classes.

Centro Adelante Campesino, a grassroots organization that provided special services to Arizona farmworkers, was established in 1978. This collection contains three boxes of administrative records, photographs, and ephemera.

Richard Miranda, Josie Ojeda, and Francisca Montoya donated this material to the Chicano/a Research Collection in 2003 and 2004 (Accession #2003-02595, Accession #2004-03142, and Accession #2004-03741).

Processing Note

Materials previously processed as MM CHSM 302, MM CHSM 473, MM CHSM 476, MM CHSM 749, CM MSM 832, and ME CHI 02 were removed from the Ephemera and Small Manuscripts Collections and incorporated into this collection.
