This collection contains material documenting the personal and professional life of Joseph L. Barragon, including Barragon's tenure as a high school Spanish teacher. It also includes family mementos and ephemera from the State Championship Basketball Tournament played at Arizona State College (now Arizona State University) in March 1950 and documents associated with adult Spanish classes and the City of Phoenix Summer Aquatics Program from the 1980s. Also included are sheet music from the 1940s and 1950s and educational booklets published in the 1940s. Items from Barragon's professional life as a high school teacher include classroom records and lesson plans for the Spanish courses he taught as well as slides, transparencies and film strips; examples of his students' work; class rosters from Central High School in the 1980s, West High School's Creative Writing Club Magazine (Potpourri) from 1959-1960, West High School's Faculty Procedural Manual from 1979-1980 and English as a Second Language (ESL) Flash Cards.
