Series II: Domestic Issues
Scope and Content Note
The Virginia Leticia Yrun Papers house articles, correspondence, petitions, and fund-raising material documenting Yrun's campaign bid to become the Representative for Congressional District 2. Although the collection extends from 1988 to 1991, the bulk of the material shows her campaign for Congress in 1991. The collection has been divided into four series.
Series I: Campaign Documents consists of the texts to various speeches, campaign pamphlets, and organizational material showing Yrun's election staff. Files on local politics include newspaper articles on various Arizona issues, a listing of political action committees in the state, and the legislation for various bills. A smaller sub-group consists of Yrun's own financial reports and her plans for financing her election bid.
Series II: Domestic Issues houses a variety of articles on issues ranging from budget to health care reform. Yrun used these articles to establish her platform for candidacy. Sources vary from Congressional reports to newspapers.
Series III: Arizona Issues documents Yrun's district in Tucson. Included are a report on Tucson Electric Power (TEP) and the energy supply in Arizona and articles concerning economic growth in Arizona.
Series IV: International Affairs is composed of articles dealing with international issues and Yrun's concerns with the changing position of women in the Middle East. These articles examine women's effects on the peace process in the Middle Eastern region as they begin to provide a greater voice in the politics of the area.
