Biographical Note
Anna Winona Marsh was born to Bert Lloyd Marsh (1872-1951) and Wilhelmina Annabella “Minnie” (Mitchell) Marsh (1873-1957) in Chicago, Illinois on May 14, 1901. She had two brothers, Chester L. (1904-1982) and Robert Mitchell (1912-1990). The Marsh family moved to Chandler, Arizona when Winona Marsh was a small child. She graduated from the Tempe Normal School of Arizona and began her teaching career in the small town in Metcalf in 1921. She taught in Miami, Arizona from 1922 until 1927, when she moved to Pocatello, Idaho. She returned to Arizona the following year, where she worked as a teacher and administrator in Phoenix’s Washington School District until her retirement in the 1960s. Marsh died in Arizona on November 7, 1983.

Processing Note
These materials were removed from the Small Manuscripts Collection (UM USM 689-697) and processed as MSS-399 in April of 2017.
