Historical Note
Arizona State University's Hispanic Research Center initiated the Community Documentation Program on July 1, 1989 with support from the Provost and the Chicano community. The Program matches university faculty and other experts with Community Based Organizations (CBOs) in order to provide the expertise needed to manage social issues, problems, and opportunities facing the Chicano community. Each project is expected to develop knowledge that has both practical uses and academic relevance, to increase the University's ability to assist the Chicano community in resolving social, economic, and cultural issues, and to gather information about public policy affecting Chicano communities in the U.S.
