Scope and Content Note
This collection houses administrative files, subject files, printed materials, correspondence, and other materials documenting Joyce Foster's tenure as Assistant Vice President for Academic Affairs at Arizona State University and her work with the ASU Development Office, the ASU Foundation, United Campus Christian Ministry, the American Association of University Women, the Kerr Cultural Center, ASU's College of Fine Arts, the ASU Libraries, and the Tempe Y.M.C.A. Also included are minutes, correspondence, financial records, and other materials showing her work with the Valley of the Sun Chapter of the National Society of Arts and Letters. This collection has not been processed in full and can be viewed only by appointment. Contact Archives and Special Collections for more information.

Biographical Note
Joyce Mae Foster earned her B.A. (1953) and M.A. (1954) at DePauw University and her Ph.D. in Zoology (1972) at Arizona State University. Foster began her career at the Health Museum of Cleveland in the 1950s. She also worked with unwed mothers at the Florence Crittenden Home and taught sex education in the Cleveland public schools. She went on to teach in Atlanta and in Florida before moving to Tempe, Arizona to accept a position at Arizona State University in 1963. Foster later served as ASU's Assistant Academic Vice President (1973-1982) and as a development officer at the ASU Foundation. She is married to Arlyn Larson and retired from ASU in 1997.
