Scope and Content Note
The Naomi Markee Harward Papers contain curricular materials, original research, minutes, agendae, speeches, correspondence, memoranda, reports, mailing lists, and printed matter (1929-1989) documenting Harward's teaching and social work activities.
Series I: Gray Panthers contains correspondence, memoranda, minutes, speeches, reports, press releases, and printed matter dating from 1970 to 1989. Of particular interest are Box 1, Folder 3 (which contains a speech that Harward delivered at the fourth annual Senior Adult Conference at Central Arizona College in Coolidge on November 14, 1985), Box 1, Folder 6 (which includes biographical information on Maggie Kuhn, founder of the national Gray Panthers, and information about the organization's history), Box 1, Folder 10 (which contains materials documenting the 1984 activities of the Gray Panthers Disability committee, League of Disabled Voters, and the President's Committee on Employment of the Handicapped), and Box 2, Folders 1-1B (which house Gray Panthers Disability Committee materials from 1985).
Series II: Sociology: Arizona State University Courses contains notecards and course outlines produced for Harward's ASU sociology courses between 1955 and 1975.
Series III: Disability Networks contains correspondence, press releases, newsletters, membership lists, newspaper clippings, informational literature, and other printed matter showing Harward's work with Disability Networks Arizona.
Series IV: Miscellaneous Papers contains printed material from various social advocacy organizations, correspondence, newsclippings, and hand-written notes. These items date from 1972 to 1988.
