This collection houses correspondence, newspaper clippings, handwritten notes, scrapbook materials, typescripts, and galley proofs documenting Glendon Swarthout's literary career. Also included are screen plays for novels that were made into movies, including They Came to Cordura, Bless the Beasts and the Children, and The Shootist, (co-scripted with Miles Swarthout, Glendon Swarthout's son).

Boxes 18 through 22 house research materials and manuscripts showing the children's books that Glendon and Kathryn Swarthout co-authored.
