Biographical Note
Miriam Minnie
Oblennis (1865-1941) married Louis John Frederick Jaeger Jr. (1864-1926), who built the Santa Rita Hotel in Tucson, Arizona, on January 30, 1895. Minnie was one of five sisters, including Helen Bonita (Oblennis) Bennett (1863-1947), Henrietta (1869-), Edna (1872-1900), and Anna (1874-). Helen Bennett had three sons, Harry Schlitz (1888-1972), Robert Jerome (1894-1975), and John Henry (1896-). Both Harry and Robert Bennett appear in this collection.
Harry Bennett married Gladys E. Osborn (1891-1971) in Maricopa County, Arizona on November 6, 1910. The couple had one daughter, Helen Frances (1916-2006), who married Waymon Mayven Totty (1911-2003) in Phoenix, Arizona on April 4, 1932. The couple had two children, Beverly Ann (Totty) Hall (1935-2017) and Harry Robert (1942-). Beverly Totty married Frank Eugene Hall (1927-2012) on January 19, 1955. After raising her three children, Miriam, Douglas S., and Nelson E., she graduated from Arizona State University (1985) and earned a law degree from Northwestern California University School of Law (1996).
Researchers should note that there is considerable confusion surrounding the Oblennis family's last name. Oblennis
has here been accepted as authoritative because it is the form most frequently used. The family may also be found under the variant spelling Oblenis
and under the variant surname Laziola
.
