Scope and Content Note
The Arizona Canal Diversion Channel and Related Water Supply Issues Collection houses materials documenting the Flood Control Act of 1965. The Arizona Canal Diversion Channel (ACDC), which consists of some 13 miles extending from Skunk Creek to Dreamy Draw, is one of this act's major features. This collection houses correspondence and other materials showing legislation, water, the ACDC, and related issues regarding Arizona, Paradise Valley, Phoenix, and other subject areas. Dr. Elizabeth Bruening Lewis' involvement is featured.

Biographical Note
Dr. Elizabeth Bruening Lewis, Ph.D. is an adjunct faculty member at the Frank Lloyd Wright School of Architecture in Scottsdale, Arizona. Lewis grew up in Missouri and later moved to Phoenix, Arizona. She has lectured widely in the fields of arts and humanities and conducted popular seminars on the art and culture of various periods, including early Christianity.
Lewis is the author of The Power of Sacred Images: A Guide to the Treasures of Early Christian Art and other published works. Lewis' public service in the field of conservation and land issues is exemplified by her service on the Arizona Nature Conservancy's Board of Trustees. She also had an active interest in the Arizona Canal Diversion Channel and related water and land issues.
Elizabeth Bruening Lewis and Orme Lewis, Jr. have a son, Joseph Lewis (Councilman from Tempe, Arizona), and a daughter, Blaise Lewis (coordinator for the South for the Political Section of the Republican National Committee).
