Scope and Content Note
The Arizona Adult Education Association Papers, 1965-1982 are composed of correspondence, conference materials, Membership and Treasury files, newsletters, press releases and copies of the AAEA constitution. Although the papers run from 1965 to 1982 the bulk of the collection concerns AAEA activities from 1966-1980.
The Correspondence in this collection generally consists of communications with AAEA members regarding committee assignments, membership issues and educational programs. The Conference files contain local arrangements correspondence, programming correspondence and conference registration and program information.
The Board of Directors files include some meeting minutes and miscellaneous calls for meetings and communications to the membership. Included are some documents concerning the 1971 call for amendments to the AAEA constitution (see also Constitution file.) The Executive Committee file contains calls for meetings and some meeting minutes.
The Constitution file contains copies of the AAEA constitution in effect in 1971 and a proposed revision from 1982. This file also contains letters to the membership (1971) concerning rules for amendment and related disagreements with the Executive Committee on the relationship between AAEA and Arizona State University in the organization of conferences.
The KAET News Releases document educational telecourses, events and programs sponsored by the television station. The Adult Education Association of the U.S.A. materials consist of press releases on advocacy and educational programs. The Mountain Plains Adult Education Association file contains registration and program information for a 1977 conference. The Marathon file documents a series of educational programs hosted by the School of Education at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst.
The Miscellaneous Programs file describes educational opportunities available at a number of local colleges, universities, and government agencies including Rio Salado Community College, Phoenix College and the Pima County Basic Education Division. Miscellaneous Papers consist of a number of adult education newsletters.
