Scope and Content Note
The Peter Corpstein Papers house correspondence, reports, studies, and newspaper articles documenting Corpstein's tenure as an Arizona state legislator. During this time, he was involved in filtering out corruption in the Arizona state government using affidavits and financial information from the Department of Corrections. Also included are memos, studies, and committee reports created by departments of the Arizona state government that Corpstein's committees dealt with.

Biographical Note
Peter Joseph Corpstein was born in 1931 to descendants of a pioneer Arizona family. His grandfather and namesake founded the Valley Seed Company and served as Mayor of Phoenix from 1916 to 1918.
Corpstein attended the University of Arizona (1948-1952) and served in the U.S. Army (1952-1954) before being elected to the Arizona Congress as a Representative from Paradise Valley. He served five terms in the legislature. He also worked as employment officer and director of the Valley Seed Company and the Arizona Sash, Door & Glass Company and is active in a number of organizations, including GOP fundraising. Beginning in 1994, Corpstein served as Assessor of the Maricopa County Department of Revenue. He is married and has two children.

Dorothy Webb donated these papers to the Arizona Historical Foundation in February of 1991.
