This collection houses views of Joseph Kinsman's Globe, Arizona grocery store and service station in addition to photographs of students at Globe's school. Most photographs were taken by unidentified commercial photographers.

Biographical Note

Joseph Kinsman was born to Simon and Katherine (Hampton) Kinsman in Globe, Arizona on March 26, 1892. He married Effie Helen Davis (1899-1976) on June 27, 1914 and the couple had two children, Alice Marie (Kinsman) Grassley (1915-2008) and Carl Gordon (1919-1969). Kinsman began his career as a salesman and started operating Smelter Grocery in Globe in about 1914. He went on to establish a service station that remained in business until at least 1942. Kinsman was later elected county recorder for Gila County and was serving in that capacity at the time of his death of heart disease on January 5, 1960.
