Historical Note
Gold Star Wives of America, Inc. was formed in 1945 by women whose husbands died as a result of World War II. Its mission is to provide service, support and friendship to the widows and widowers of military personnel who died on active duty or as the result of a service connected cause.
Today, the organization has 53 chapters in 26 states.
