Scope and Content Note

This collection consists of one ledger documenting the creation of the Arizona Wonder Circuit Tour company in 1924, such as the legal documents securing the company name and purpose. Other documents include the company's articles of incorporation, a liquidation notice from 1927 by the company to the McArthur Brothers Mercantile Company, meeting minutes from 1930 to 1933, contracts about the vehicles purchased from the company, and court documents from February 18th and March 15th 1933. Items contained in the ledger are not bound in chronological order. The item located in the folder with the ledger is an Arizona Corporation Commission certificate that was presented on December 31st, 1930 that outlines the company policies and procedures.

Historical Note

The Arizona Wonder Circuit Tour company was first established in September 1924 by Henderson Stockton, J. Early Craig, and Allan K. Perry. The goal of the company was to transport visitors to different areas of Arizona by automobile coaches. As of 1924, these locations included Roosevelt Dam, Globe, Payson, the Grand Canyon, the Petrified Forest, Jerome, Prescott, and other Arizona cities. In 1927 the company was sold to the McArthur Brothers Mercantile Company. The company's name was changed to Arizona Biltmore Tours from Arizona Wonder Circuit Tour company on February 15, 1929.
