National Association of Civilian Conservation Corps Alumni Collection
Scope and Content Note
The National Association of Civilian Conservation Corps Alumni Collection includes correspondence, reports, inventories of federal records collections, publications, and printed matter. Many of the items are photocopies of original documents.
Series I: Miscellaneous Publications/Histories contains photocopies of federal publications, reports, and histories of the CCC. Most of this material was produced in the 1930s and 1940s. This series also includes an index of CCC materials located at the Arizona State Library, Archives and Public Records.
Series II: Federal Records Inventories houses descriptions of records held by the National Archives created by the Civilian Conservation Corps, the Bureau of Indian Affairs, the Office of Education, the Department of Agriculture, the Soil Conservation Service, and the Forest Service.
Series III: Correspondence/Memoranda contains letters dating from 1933 to 1941 written between a number of federal administrators and local authorities regarding CCC projects. A calendar with detailed descriptions of each item in this series is available in Box 4, Folder 3A.
Series IV: Miscellaneous Records contains a wide variety of reports, publications, maps, and reference works relating to CCC and Soil Conservation Service history.

Historical Note
The National Association of Civilian Conservation Corps Alumni was founded in 1977 by several former CCC enrollees living in California. The organization now includes over 60 chapters (1982) and in 1980 membership was expanded to include alumni of similar modern programs like the Youth Conservation Corps and the Young Adult Conservation Corps.
Arizona Chapter 44 was founded in 1980 in the Phoenix area and has grown to include members from all parts of Arizona.
