Newspaper Columns, 1943
Scope and Content Note
The Myrtle Cheney Murdock Collection consists of newspaper columns, correspondence, essays, news clippings, and musical scores. The majority of the materials constitute manuscript and published versions of Murdock's Arizona Republic newspaper column, Washington Life from the Congressman's Wife
, published from 1938 to 1943.
Also included are Murdock's manuscript and typescript essays on various aspects of Washington DC history and artistry. The Arizona Authors Project file documents Murdock's efforts to secure copies of publications and speakers for An Evening with Arizona Authors on behalf of the Washington Arizona Club. The file contains correspondence with a number of notable fiction and non-fiction writers from Arizona. A group of published and unpublished musical scores for piano, violin, and voice (mostly solo and duo compositions) by David N. Murdock (1913-1943) are also present.
