Arizona Republic, 1940 January-April
Scope and Content Note
The Reg Manning Collection houses original cartoons, cartoon newsclippings, and correspondence ranging from 1936 to 1981. The bulk of the collection consists of original cartoons published in the Arizona Republic from 1964 to 1981. The collection has been divided into three series.
Series I: Arizona Republic Cartoon Newsclippings consists of newsclippings of Manning cartoons as they originally appeared in the Arizona Republic. The clippings are filed by date of publication and extended from 1936 to 1978.
Series II: Correspondence extends from 1941 to 1945 and is filed alphabetically by the correspondent's last name. The bulk of these files are letters from American servicemen in the United States and overseas during World War II. The Newsclippings file includes substantial biographical information published from 1940 to 1968.
Series III: Original Cartoons dates from 1964 to 1981. Other than the individual cartoons located in box 21, the cartoons are filed chronologically by the date they appeared in the Arizona Republic.
