Council Minutes 1963-1972

This collection houses minutes, correspondence, publications, financial records, photographs, and other records documenting the Episcopal Diocese of Arizona from 1880 to 2003. It has been divided into four series.

Series I: Diocese of Arizona houses records, notes, minutes, correspondence, publications, and other materials documenting the administration of the Diocese of Arizona. The administrative units represented include the Diocesan Corporation Board of Trustees (Sub-Series A), the Diocesan Council Executive Council (Sub-Series B), the Office of the Chancellor (Sub-Series C), the Ecumenical Officer (Sub-Series K), the Departments of Christian Education, Christian Social Relations, Finance, Ministries in Higher Education, and Missions (Sub-Series F), the Committees on Canon and Constitution and on Diocesan Missions (Sub-Series G), and the Commissions on Ministry and Planning (Sub-Series H). Sub-Series E: Office of the Bishop houses papers created by John Mills Kendrick (1889-1911), Julius Walter Atwood (1911-1925), Walter Mitchell (1926-1945), Arthur Barksdale Kinsolving II (1945-1962), Joseph Meakin Harte (1962-1979), Joseph Thomas Heistand (1979-1992), and Wesley Frensdorff (Coadjutor 1985-1988). Also represented are St. Luke's medical facilities (Sub-Series D), conferences (Sub-Series I), convocations (Sub-Series J), the Arizona Missionary District (Sub-Series L), publications (Sub-Series N), and other records (Sub-Series M).

Series II: National Church contains minutes, reports, and other materials documenting the Episcopalian church on a national level.

Series III: Individual Parishes houses correspondence, publications, blueprints, registers, financial records, and other materials documenting Episcopal parishes around Arizona. This series has been organized alphabetically by the name of the city that the parish is located in.

Series IV: Affiliate Organizations houses rosters, minutes, publications, scrapbooks, blue books, correspondence, and other materials documenting the Altar Guild (Sub-Series A), Episcopal Church Women (Sub-Series B), the Episcopal Ladies' Guild (Sub-Series C), and the Women's Auxiliary (Sub-Series D).

Series V: Oversized Materials houses items requiring special housing due to their size. Specific materials removed to this series have been noted elsewhere in the finding aid.
